The Liverpool City Region Apprenticeship Growth Plan is launched...

The Liverpool City Region Apprenticeship Growth Plan was launched as part of the 2018 National Apprenticeship Week celebrations. Steve Rotheram, Metro Mayor of Liverpool City Region and Cllr Ian Maher, Leader of Sefton Council and Portfolio Lead for Skills and Apprenticeships, visited a local web design company ‘Cyberfrog’ located in the Baltic Quarter of Liverpool to learn about how apprenticeships work for this local business and fit with their business plan.  Also in attendance was Cyberfrog Director Richard Davies, Thomas Banner, one of Cyberfrog’s apprentices, and Siobhan Saunders, Chair of Liverpool City Region Apprenticeship Hub.

“Ensuring that our residents and young people in particular have the right skills for the modern workplace is vital both for their futures and the country’s future economic prosperity. High quality apprenticeships are key to making that happen. We have a proud history of apprenticeships in the Liverpool City Region and value highly the opportunities and benefits they offer to individuals, businesses and the local economy.

The Combined Authority’s ambitions for apprenticeships remain high and despite current difficulty in maintaining previous levels of apprenticeship starts our longer term aim is to achieve programme growth.

This Growth Plan demonstrates our readiness to take action and our desire to play a greater role in influencing and creatively responding to policy that affects our employment and skills ambition”.
